Not the horoscope column you grew up with
Western and Vedic astrology both read the sky at your birth — but they measure it differently. Over thousands of years, the Earth’s slow wobble (precession) has pulled the tropical zodiac about 24 degrees away from where the constellations actually are today. Vedic astrology corrects for that drift, which is why your Vedic Moon sign or Ascendant can land in a different sign than what Western astrology gives you.
Western Astrology
- ·Uses the tropical zodiac — fixed to the seasons, not the stars themselves.
- ·Usually summarized by a single “sun sign,” known from your birth date alone.
- ·Centers on personality and psychological archetypes.
Vedic Astrology
- ·Uses the sidereal zodiac — aligned with where the constellations actually sit today.
- ·Builds a full chart from your exact birth time and place: Ascendant, Moon sign, houses, and more.
- ·Includes predictive timing systems (like Dasha periods) describing when life themes activate — not just who you are.
One reading, five layers deep
Every Nakshira reading goes well beyond a single chart — here’s what’s included.
Why exact birth time matters
Your Ascendant — and every house placement built from it — shifts as the sky turns, roughly one sign every two hours. A birth time that’s off by even a few minutes can move planets across a house boundary and change what the chart actually says. If you have a birth certificate or hospital record, that’s the most reliable source.
